Heritage Narragansett Turkeys

  • Eyes: brown
  • Legs and feet: slate in young birds; dull salmon in adults
  • Plumage: (male) the exposed surface of each neck, breast, and body feather is steel-grey terminating in a distinct black band; the unexposed part of each feather is black.  Female plumage has a white edging to feathers on back and breast.  Primary wing feathers have clear black-and-white barring.  
  • Main tail feathers: dull black, each feather regularly pencilled with tan parallel lines ending with a broad band of metallic black, and edge with steel-grey approaching white.
